The travel wheelchair you've waited for...
Travelling with a wheelchair can sure as ever present its challenges. This is where the team at HOC have come up with a solution to help alleviate the stress of this situation.
The HOC Travel or Coupler chair is the Swiss Army knife of wheelchairs. It sure as ever looks like a beautiful bespoke and custom made titanium rigid frame wheelchair. The trick with this one is the custom and exclusive coupler system that allows the front hanger of the chair to collapse and fold when undone with the provided tool.
The backrest and canes are then able to be removed via two quick release pins that simply pull out. If selected as an option, the side guards are also removable with a simple quick release system.
From here the chair can be placed into a custom made carry bag for the chair. With the chair placed inside the bag, it can then be stowed into an overhead airline carriage space*

How much does it weigh?
This question is a little like asking how long is a piece of string... Each chair will vary with different sizing and parts selected. As a guide, the chair Grant is pictured in weighs barely over 10kg complete with wheels, cushion and everything as seen pictured. As a guide, some parts selected on his chair are not lightweight but he chooses for his own reasons. The Carbolife hand rims as an example are heavier than a basic alloy round hand rim but there is far better pushing efficiency with the Carbolife hand rim. The same can be said for the choice of a rigid back rest as opposed to an upholstery one. The upholstery is lightweight but doesn't offer the postural support a rigid back does and is a personal choice.
How small does it pack down to?
This is a little like the previous question... Each chair will vary depending on the size of the chair for the user. It's worth considering airline overhead baggage sizes and allowances. Each airline and situation can and will be different. As a guide, the chair that Grant sits in has 50cm x 40cm x 28cm. His chair seat width is 32cm with a depth of 40cm to give some reference.
How much does it cost & how quickly can I get one?

In terms of time frame, these chairs usually take around 12-14 weeks to be built and then air freighted into Australia.
